More monkeypox cases confirmed in Ottawa

Public Health Ontario (PHO) is confirming one more case of the monkeypox virus in Ottawa. 

As of Aug. 16, there are 37 confirmed cases of the monkeypox virus in the capital, and PHO is also reporting that there is one more probable case of monkeypox in Ottawa, which would bring the current total of cases in the city of Ottawa to 38 once the probable case is confirmed. 

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit and the Renfrew County and District Health Unit are each reporting no cases of the monkeypox virus while the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is reporting two cases of the monkeypox virus. 

There are 529 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Ontario, with 396 of cases across the province in Toronto.
