NCC wants your recycled Christmas tree for the Rideau Canal Skateway

By Dani-Elle Dubé

When you’re done with your Christmas tree, don’t throw it away — there’s still some life in it yet.

And that new life will be on the Rideau Canal when it opens up to the public for its skating season.

In a tweet on Thursday, December 23, the NCC said that anyone with a real tree can bring it over to the Rideau Canada Skateway Tree drop-off.

The trees will be used to line the skateway in its rest spots and for decoration.

They’ll also be transferred into wood chips to be used throughout the Capital.

The drop-off location is on Colonel By Drive, just west of Bronson Avenue Bridge.
