New data reveals patients spent an average of 21.3 hours in an Ontario emergency room waiting to be admitted

The latest data for Health Quality Ontario (HQO) shows patients spent just over 21 hours in an Ontario emergency room (ER) waiting to be admitted in the month of September. 

HQO's latest statistics also reveal that on average, patients waited two hours for a first assessment from doctor in an Ontario hospital ER. 

The average wait for a first assessment by a doctor in Ottawa hospitals are as follows:

• The General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital: 3.7 hours
• The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO): 3.4 hours
• The Queensway Carleton Hospital: 2.8 hours
• The Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital: 2.7 hours
• Montfort Hospital: 2.2 hours

The average wait times for a first assessment by a doctor in the Valley and other parts of Ontario are as follows:

• The Hawkesbury And District General Hospital 3.5 hours
• Pembroke Regional Hospital: 2.5 hours
• Glengarry Memorial Hospital: 2.2 hours
• Kingston Health Sciences Centre – Kingston General: 2.2 hours
• Brockville General Hospital – Charles ST site: two hours
• Perth And Smiths Falls District Hospital – Smiths Falls site: 1.4 hours
• Perth And Smiths Falls District Hospital – Perth site: 1.4 hours
• Renfrew Victoria Hospital: 1.1 hours

The average times a patient in an Ottawa emergency room waited to be admitted are as follows:

• Queensway Carleton Hospital: 23.7 hours
• The General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital: 22 hours
• The Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital: 21.6 hours
• CHEO: 16.1 hours
• Montfort Hospital: 16 hours

The average times a patient in a Valley and other Ontario emergency rooms waited to be admitted are as follows:

• Hawkesbury And District General Hospital: 33.5 hours
• Kingston Health Sciences Centre – Kingston General: 21.7 hours
• Glengarry Memorial Hospital: 14.6 hours
• Pembroke Regional Hospital: 14.5 hours
• Perth And Smiths Falls District Hospital – Perth site: 14.1 hours
• Perth And Smiths Falls District Hospital – Smiths Falls site: 13 hours
