New draft master concept plan for Lebreton Flats heading for public consultation

By Victoria Williston

A public consultation is being held Thursday for residents to give feedback on the new draft master concept plan for Lebreton Flats.

In June, board members of the National Capital Commission said there were 400 participants in previous public consultations and 560 completed online surveys that helped to create the master concept plan.

The consultations also helped to create six guiding principles that focus on enhancing the capital experience, creating community, valuing nature, ensuring connections, building excellence through innovation and honouring the past.

The site was originally supposed to be home of the new Ottawa Senators stadium by the joint venture Rendezvous Lebreton group, but due to the implosion between business partners Eugene Melnyk, Ottawa Senators owner, and John Ruddy, of Trinity Developments, the project didn't go through.

You can drop by Bayview Yards Thursday night between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to take part in the open house.

Residents are also being encouraged to complete an online survey that opens November 21 at 5 p.m. and runs until December 6 at midnight.

The NCC is looking at having shovels in the ground by 2021.
