No Capital Fair in Ottawa this year, organizers confirm

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Considering all the uncertainty that remains with COVID-19 in the city, Ottawa’s Capital Fair has made the decision to forego this year’s fair.

The Gloucester Agricultural Society and producers of the Capital Fair made the announcement Sunday afternoon via statement.

The fair takes place at the Rideau Carleton Raceway in August for about 10 days.

“After taking into consideration Ottawa Public Health’s safety concerns, the uncertainty of the provincial regulations and the ever tightening timeline, the Board of Directors has made the agonizing decision to forego this year’s fair,” their statement reads.

Their decision took into account the possible risk to the public, most especially the young and elderly.

“We anxiously look forward to 2022 and the ability to provide Ottawa with a safe and sensational summer fair.”
