No injuries after garage fire spreads to family home in Blackburn Hamlet

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) had a busy Wednesday, responding to a garage fire in Blackburn Hamlet and a grass and shed fire near Fitzroy Harbour.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received multiple 911 calls reporting a home with an attached garage on fire on Woodhill Crescent, near Southpark Drive.
Fire crews declared a working fire on route to the scene, as black smoke could be seen from Southpark Drive. When crews arrived, there were visible flames in the attic and heavy smoke conditions in the garage.

It took about 30 minutes to declare the fire under control, and crews were able to minimize damage to home next door.
There were no injuries reported.
An OFS investigator responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
OFS also responded to a fire near Fitzroy Harbour Wednesday afternoon.
Around 4:30 p.m., crews responded to 911 calls reporting a barn fire on Stonecrest Road, between Galetta Side Road and Aylwin Road.
Black smoke could be seen from a distance and a working fire was declared on route.
When crews arrived on scene, firefighters confirmed a large area of grass was on fire, along with a small unoccupied shed.
The fire was under control by 5 p.m. and there were no injuries.
