There were no reported injuries following a house fire in Hintonburg.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a home on Hamilton Avenue North, between Wellington Street west and Tyndall Street, following a 9-1-1 call around 4:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec 9.

The caller had reported that their neighbours home was on fire, with visible flames coming from the back of the home.

The first fire apparatus arrived within five minutes of the 9-1-1 call and confirmed heavy smoke and open flames at the back of the second floor of a two-storey single family home.

Firefighters quickly made their way to the second floor and began a fast attack, as well as a search of the structure for occupants.

There has been a report on scene that there could be three people in the home, but it was confirmed just after 5 a.m. that there was no one inside.

The fire was declared under control shortly before 5:30 a.m., with firefighters keeping it contained the second floor. No surrounding homes were damaged, though the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) did evacuate a number of homes while crews tackled the flames.

A fire investigator has responded to investigate the cause and origin.
