The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCSB) has launched an anonymous reporting tool for high school students.
'OCDSB Cares' allows students to text or web chat with a school board official to share concerns about the health, well-being and safety of themselves or others – anonymously.
The service is monitored by a live operator between 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days.
“'OCDSB Cares' is not meant to replace urgent or emergency services,” the board stated. “If it is an emergency situation, students should contact 9-1-1. OCDSB Cares anonymous reporting tool is also not meant to replace school supports available, but rather to provide an option for students. Students are encouraged to continue to reach out to their teachers, principal or other school staff when in need of assistance.”
