UPDATE: Life-threatening burns suffered by person saved in Overbrook fire

One person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after firefighters found them in a smoke-filled basement apartment on Columbus Avenue in Overbrook.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received a call from an alarm company at 2:14 p.m., reporting a residential fire in a home on Columbus Avenue, between Lola Street and Edith Avenue.
Firefighters arrived at 2:18 p.m. to alarms sounding and smoke coming from a basement apartment. They quickly forced open the locked door to the apartment and saw smoke and flames inside.
They searched the unit where they found one person and carried them outside to provide initial care, before transferring to the Ottawa Paramedic Service.
Paramedics say the rescued individual suffered general burns, and they are in life-threatening condition, but all vital signs are stable.
Firefighters ensured there was no one else inside the home and extinguished the fire, declaring it under control at 2:32 p.m.
The damage was contained to the single unit in the home and a fire investigator is en route to investigate what caused of the blaze.
