Organizers in Barrhaven ready to welcome people back for Canada Day festivities

By CityNews Ottawa

For the first time since 2019, Canadians across the capital city will have an opportunity to celebrate in-person Canada Day celebrations.

Events across the city of Ottawa will be taking place on July 1 to commemorate the country's birthday, including the return of celebrations in Barrhaven.

Darrell Bartraw, president of Canada Day in Barrhaven Incorporated told The Sam Laprade Show on Tuesday, June 28 that the event will feature activities for all ages including a puppet show and an array of live music.

The midway will run for four days, from June 30 until July 3.

“We don't do a beer garden here,” he added. “People tell me that we can make money from a beer garden but I want this to be all about the kids.”

Bartraw added there is a free Canada Day breakfast for seniors, and the fireworks display is expected to be the biggest show aside from festivities in the downtown core.
