Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson says Ottawa Public Health has accepted a recommendation made by the province, which would see more small business closures and restaurants restricting their services.
The provincial recommendation would see all bars, theatres and entertainment venues close temporarily, and local restaurants limit their operations to take-out and delivery as of Tuesday.
At a news conference on Monday afternoon, provincial health officials also recommended cancelling any gathering of 50 or more people to help stop the spread of COVID-19. That includes at day cares, restaurants, bars, private schools, churches and places of worship.
Health Minister Christine Elliott said Ontario is not yet at the point of ordering the closure of bars and restaurants, but the situation is rapidly changing and the province would take the step if necessary.
