Ottawa fire crews battle pair of early morning fires

Ottawa Fire Services is investigating a pair of early morning fires, downtown. 

Firefighters were first called to 182 Daly Ave. in Sandy Hill, around 1:30 a.m., Monday, December 21.

Crews say due to heavy smoke conditions, two people were assessed on scene by Ottawa paramedics.

Officials say occupants will be displaced but have not said how many. Those who were displaced will be assisted by the Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

An Ottawa Fire Investigator has been called in to determine the cause of the blaze. 

A few hours later, Ottawa Fire Services were called to Chinatown, shortly before 4 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at an unoccupied building at 12 Arthur St. to smoke and flames. 

There are no reported injuries. 

A fire investigator has not been called in to determine the cause.
