Ottawa-Gatineau zipline welcomes its first riders

By CityNews Ottawa

Interzip Rogers is now open, with its first riders soaring across the inter-provincial border, 120 feet above the Ottawa River.

An opening ceremony took place Tuesday, June 22, at the Zibi site with local politicians and tourism officials on hand.

Valérie Ducharme and Charles-Armand Turpin got the first ride after donating $27,000 to local charities via an online auction for the honour.

Tickets to Interzip Rogers are now available. The zipline will be open 7 days a week, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. Tickets are $39.99 for adults and $29 for kids 12 and under. Ticket holders are asked to select their date and time of their visit at the time of purchase.

Given the COVID-19 situation, the zipline will be welcoming approximately half the number of daily riders for the first few weeks in order to ensure safe operation and compliance with the Ontario and Quebec governments’ public health guidelines. Under normal circumstances, Interzip Rogers is expected to accommodate up to 300 riders per day.
