Developments of the Ottawa Hospital’s new Civic Campus have been scarce, but the Ottawa Hospital’s new website and newsletter says it will need another year from it original 2026 date before it's ready to open.
According to the update sent out Wednesday, the doors are now scheduled to open in 2027-28 instead of 2026, which was the original opening date that was announced in March 2018.
The hospital is also currently in Stage 2 of development, which means the hospital is in the midst of outlining the types of hospital programming, square footage allotment for space, the high-level architecture and design, financial planning and site requirements for the new site.
“It will be the major referral centre for Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and part of Nunavut and the Eastern Ontario Trauma Centre,” the announcement says. “As one of Canada’s largest acute care learning and research hospitals, the new campus will provide a full range of specialized services, research and education for those with the most complex injuries and illness.”
The hospital entered into Stage 2 development in September.
The new campus development will be located on Carling Avenue next to Dow’s Lake.
