Ottawa Humane Society welcomes new president and CEO

By Anil Jhalli

The board of directors of the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) has announced the organization's new president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Sharon Miko, the organization's current director of operations, will begin her role in mid-November.

The news comes four months after the announcement of current CEO Bruce Roney’s retirement.

“It has been an incredible journey and honour to be part of this team’s work,” said Roney, who has been leading the OHS for more than 20 years.

Miko joined the OHS in 2003.

“I’m very excited to take this next step in my career and to continue the organization’s work in creating a more humane and compassionate community for all animals,” said Miko.
