Ottawa police officer dies at headquarters

An Ottawa police officer was found dead Friday evening inside police headquarters.
Police are calling it a non-suspicious death.
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that we lost one of our own this evening. The death is being investigated as non-suspicious.
This is heart-breaking for all of us.
We are working to support the family and our members following this tragedy.

Support for members across the city has been increased as a result.
Peter Sloly, announced as the next chief of police, weighed in on social media.

Former chief Charles Bordeleau, who retired this year, offered his condolences.
