Ottawa’s got some nifty new trains on the tracks and the City’s been out test running its new LRT gear.
Over the weekend, the new Stadler FLIRT trains could be seen out on the tracks running test drives on the Trillium Line on the north-south extension between the Walkley Maintenance and Storage Facility and Leitrim Station.
Mayor Jim Watson posted video of the new trains being tested on Saturday, January 16 on his Twitter.
In his tweet, Watson said more testing will happen in the Hunt Club area over the week.

The new diesel-electric trains are supplied by Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail, a company located in Bussnang, Switzerland.
The first train arrived in October 2021. The vehicles themselves are 80 m long and can carry up to 420 passengers at full capacity.
The trains will travel along the main O-Train line from Bayview Station to Limebank Station and will run every 12 minutes.
