Outbreak status lifted from Centre d’accueil Champlain and Peter D. Clark long term care homes

Outbreak statuses at the Centre d’accueil Champlain long term care home in Vanier and Peter D. Clark Centre in Nepean have been lifted by the City of Ottawa.
The news was confirmed in a memo sent out Wednesday evening by Donna Gray, general manager of the community and social services department.
“There have been no new resident or staff cases in 14 days at either home,” Gray said in the memo. “We are looking forward to gradually returning to our regular activities in the homes, and there will be a phased transition as we move out of outbreak.”
As of Wednesday, there are no new staff or resident cases at Carleton Lodge either, but only one staff case at Garry J. Armstrong near New Edinburgh.
According to Ottawa Public Health’s COVID-19 report Wednesday, there are 16 ongoing outbreaks in long term care centres and 13 outbreaks in retirement homes across the city.
The outbreak at Centre d’accueil Champlain was declared on September 11. There were a total of 10 cases — nine among staff and one resident.
Peter D. Clark has been through three recorded outbreaks, the latest being announced on October 2. During this outbreak, there were a total of three reported cases, all among staff.
