Rideau Canal Skateway opens for 51st season with 2.4 km stretch

The first skaters have hit the Rideau Canal Skateway for its 51st season.

A 2.4 km stretch of ice opened Thursday, January 28, between the Pretoria Bridge and the Bank Street Bridge, including Patterson Creek.

The National Capital Commission (NCC) says that section of the skateway was swept and flooded early Thursday morning.

The green flag is up on 2.4km between Pretoria Bridge & Bank St. Bridge, & our 51st season on the #RideauCanal has officially begun! Due to COVID-19, this skating season will be different:
