Rogers collaborates with Ojibwe artist, helps raise $100K for Orange Shirt Society

By Alex Black

A collaboration between Rogers Communications and an Ojibwe artist has helped raise money for Indigenous education and residential school awareness.

Rogers collaborated with Patrick Hunter to design a special orange t-shirt, designed as a tribute to the lives affected and lost through Canada's residential school system.

Close to 5,000 shirts were sold during a two-month campaign leading up to Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 30.

The campaign raised close to $100,000 in support of the Orange Shirt Society.

You can show your support by purchasing one of the special orange shirt here. The shirts will be available until October 16, 2020.

You can also share your support on social media using #wewearorange and #orangeshirtsociety.

Orange Shirt Day is an annual day of recognition in Canada to commemorate the residential school experience, acknowledge the healing journey of survivors and their families, and commit to taking action towards reconciliation.

You can find more on the legacy of Orange Shirt Day here.
