Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson isn't in Buffalo with the rest of his team, who are preparing to take on the Sabres Wednesday night.
The Sens wrapped up their final home game on Monday, a 6-5 loss against the Winnipeg Jets. Karlsson skated over to the empty Sens net at the end of the game, and picked up the game puck.
The 27-year-old defenceman also wasn't at Tuesday's practice.
Some fans aren't letting that discourage them. They're insisting that Karlsson will be back, if not this season, then next.
A lot of talk about @ErikKarlsson65 picking up the puck at the end of the game. Isn’t it common for the ‘C’ to collect the puck at the final home game of the season? I’ve seen it many times. Don’t count him out, my gut says he’ll still be in #ottawa next year.
