Three people arrested during high-risk takedown, police seize gun and drugs

Grenville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers arrested three people after a high-risk traffic stop on Highway 416 south of Ottawa on Thursday, Feb. 16. 

The OPP said the driver of a vehicle was observed with a gun at roughly 12:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon. 

Police seized a gun along with 27 grams of suspected cocaine and purple fentanyl. 

The investigation continues. 

The driver, a 23-year-old male from Kitchener was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a Firearm knowing serial had been tampered with
  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

A 20-year-old female and a 16-year-old male also both from Kitchener were charged with:

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Occupant of vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm knowing serial had been tampered with
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
