Two men charged with multiple offences after gunpoint robbery in Ottawa’s south end

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Robbery Unit charged two men following a gunpoint robbery last week in Ottawa's south end. 

On Oct. 6, at about 11:20 p.m, the victim pulled into her driveway when two men in a vehicle stopped her. One of the men approached her and demanded she hand over her purse at gunpoint. Shots were fired, but the victim was uninjured. She contacted police after the two suspects fled. 

The two men were tracked in Gatineau. One suspect was located and arrested by police in Gatineau without any incident. Shortly after the arrest, the vehicle the suspects used was seen travelling in Gatineau. Police attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit followed. The vehicle was eventually stopped, and the second suspect was arrested.

Officers located BBs for a pellet gun and property belonging to the victim inside the vehicle.

Aws Abbas Hameed Hameed, 20, of Gatineau, and Hussein Alfarra, 23, also from Gatineau have been charged with one count each of:

  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
  • Use/handle/store firearm carelessly
  • Possess weapon for committing an offence
  • Point a firearm

Hameed is further charged with one count of breach of probation and operation while prohibited.

They appeared in court on Oct. 11.
