Upgrades coming to Carleton Lodge long-term care home

Improvements are coming to the Carleton Lodge long-term care home by way of government funding.

MPP Lisa MacLeod announced that the Ontario government is investing $136,100 in a one-time combined federal-provincial funding to improve and make upgrades to long-term care homes in Nepean.

“This investment will benefit our local Carleton Lodge residents by improving their quality of care and comfort,” said Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture Industries and Nepean MPP. “Our government puts the safety and well-being of long-term care residents at the heart of everything we do.”

The money injection is part of a $100 million investment to install heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and make retrofits or repairs to fire sprinkler systems in 95 long-term care homes across Ontario.

The city will get up to $136,100 to replace the chiller plant, in order to increase air conditioning capacity for all loops serviced by the chiller.

On top of that, the replacement will provide energy efficiency, as well as modernize the interface which will allow building management to better control and maintain cooling.

This funding is part of a combined federal-provincial investment of up to $1.05 billion to build or renovate health and safety related projects in long-term care, education and municipalities through the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
