Valentine’s Day do-over in Ottawa coming in March

By CityNews Ottawa

Ottawa will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day twice this year.

March 14 has been declared Valentine’s Day in Ottawa after city council passed a motion at its meeting on Wednesday, February 23 to re-do the day.

Council unanimously approved the motion in order to allow residents to enjoy what should have been a day to celebrate love, but was otherwise taken over by the trucker convoy protest.

The occupation caused businesses and restaurants in the core to shutdown for several weeks.

The motion also directs the city’s communication and development staff to work with local BIAs and Ottawa Tourism to promote the day and encourage residents to make the most of the Valentine’s Day do-over celebrations.
