An Ottawa man, charged in connection with a Monday morning incident on Parliament Hill, is now facing charges related to an assault in Blossom Park.
The Ottawa Police Service was called around 7:20 a.m. on Sunday about an injured man on a walking path near Bridle Path in Gloucester.
Officers said a 32-year-old victim had argued with a man he knew, and that man took a swing at him then ran off. The victim, noticing that he had a cut to his hand immediately called 911 when he realized the male hit him with a knife. Ottawa Paramedics assessed the victim and transported him to a local hospital.
Officers were unable to locate a suspect, despite having a description and a photo.
On Monday morning, the Parliamentary Protective Service arrested a man following an incident during the changing of the guard ceremony. He was handed over to Ottawa police.
Jesse Mooney, 24, is charged with the following in relation to the Bridle Path incident:
– Assault with a weapon
– Possession of a weapon
– Assault causing bodily harm
– Fail to comply with a probation order
As confirmed on Monday, Mooney was charged with assault and breach of probation in relation to the Parliament Hill incident.
The accused is scheduled to be in show cause court Tuesday for both matters.
