Ammunition, drugs, cash seized in Golden Triangle and Orleans

A 24-year-old Ottawa man is facing drug trafficking-related charges after police searched a home in Orleans and another in the Golden Triangle.

The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit started its investigation into the drug activities of an Ottawa man this month. 

Investigators and tactical officers searched two addresses, Friday; one on Merkley Drive off Bottriell Way, and the other on Gilmour Street, a couple blocks east of Elgin Street and south of Somerset Street. 

Seized items from both addresses included:

– A box of 357 calibre ammunition
– Marijuana
– Psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
– Methamphetamine pills
– Shatter
– Cocaine
– Hashish
– LSD pills
– $15,000 in Canadian currency 

As a result, Kyle Broomer, 24, of Ottawa, is charged with:

– Possession for the purpose of trafficking (10 counts)
– Production of a schedule II
– Possession of proceeds of crime (2 counts) 

Broomer will appear in show cause court Friday.
