Attempt murder suspect wanted after Vanier home invasion

The Ottawa Police Service has one man in custody and is looking for another after a 25-year-old was pistol-whipped and stabbed numerous times in a Lafontaine Avenue home.

Officers say the pair of suspects broke into a home near Montreal Road around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, assaulted the victim and then stole items from the house before fleeing the scene.

The 25-year-old was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. 

Shortly afterwards, OPS officers near the scene arrested a 23-year-old man. 

Samatar Said-Fahmi, 23, of Ottawa is charged with:

– Attempted murder
– Breaking and Entering
– Robbery Using a Firearm
– Aggravated Assault
– Pointing a firearm (2 counts)
– Use Firearm in the commission of an offence
– Possession of a weapon (2 counts)
– Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
– Possess firearm while prohibited
– Breach probation
– He is scheduled to appear in court today.

The second suspect, Andrew Carter, 19, of Ottawa is outstanding and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is charged with:

– Attempted murder
– Breaking and Entering
– Robbery Using a Firearm
– Aggravated Assault
– Pointing a firearm (2 counts)
– Use Firearm in the commission of an offence
– Possession of a weapon (2 counts)
– Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
– Fail to comply with conditions of judicial release (4 counts)

Carter is described as a white man, standing 5' 8'' (173 cm) and 190 lbs (86 kg) with a fair complexion and brown hair. He is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach him, but call 911 right away.
