Charges laid in Hwy 401 incident near Brockville, which left one OPP officer injured

A 39-year-old Halifax man is being charged after an incident on Hwy 401, west of Brockville.
Leeds Detachment Ontario Provincial Police officers received 911 calls about a vehicle driving erratically, back on July 10 at about 8:40 p.m., before it crashed into the median on Hwy 401 eastbound in Yonge Township.
Reports were that the driver got out of his car and began accosting assisting bystanders. The driver allegedly also tried to enter other vehicles before he started running down the highway.
An OPP officer arrived and was injured while attempting to apprehend the driver.
The driver was eventually restrained, with the help of a few bystanders, and taken to hospital in Brockville for assessment.
The officer was released from a hospital in Brockville with minor injuries.
Paul Oldham is facing changes including assault police, resisting arrest, dangerous driving, and impaired driving by drug.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Provincial Division – Brockville on August 3.
