Collision leaves 45-year-old dead, OPP continues to investigate

One person is dead after a fatal collision on Highway 17 on Sunday, July 24. 

The Renfrew and Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate the incident. 

On July 24, 2022, just after 2 a.m. OPP officers along with Renfrew County Paramedics Service and firefighters with the Whitewater Region Township responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 17.

Two people were in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Both parties were transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

One person, 45-year-old Charity Deschamps of Petawawa, was pronounced dead in hospital. 

The single vehicle rollover resulted in a section of Highway 17 being closed for several hours between Turcotte Road and Main Street in Cobden.
