Police are on the lookout for a suspicious man, who was spotted with what was believed to be a rifle  in the area of Amelia Street and Seventhy Street.

He was seen Tuesday around 8:50 a.m., prompting an increase in police presence.

The Cornwall Community Hospital was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Ambulances are still being accepted and a triage nurse will be on hand for all absolute emergencies. There will be no in and out traffic from the main hospital building and the Community Addiction and Mental Health Centre.

Schools in the area have been place on hold and secure as a precautionary measure while CCVS was placed on a lockdown.

Police have also asked that residents in the area of Second Street to Ninth Street, and Nick Kaneb Drive to Cumberland Avenue to stay inside their homes.
