Ontario's Special Investigations Unit says there is no reasonable grounds on which to charge an Ottawa Police Service officer in relation to a collision which left a 16-year-old seriously injured.
The SIU says the officer was looking for speeders on Hunt Club Road on the afternoon of October 11, 2017, when he saw a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed.
The officer gave pursuit of the vehicle, and it pulled over.
As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped off and soon after was involved in a collision.
The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Tony Loparco, has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against the police officer in relation to the incident.
The teen was a passenger in the vehicle which crashed.
