OPP officers assaulted at Carleton Place laundromat

A 47-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting police officers during an incident on High Street.
Ontario Provincial Police in Lanark County were called to a Carleton Place laundromat at 10:18 p.m., Saturday, as business owner was trying to close for the night but a man was sleeping inside.
Police said the man had been there for two hours and became aggressive when officers spoke with him.
William Hughes is charged:
– Assault a peace officer (two counts)
– Resist peace officer
– Fail to comply with a recognizance (eight counts)
Hughes was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Provincial Court in Perth.
