Ottawa Police charge former senator with sexual assault, criminal harassment

Former senator Don Meredith is facing multiple charges following sexual assault allegations. 

Following an investigation into the allegations, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged Meredith, 58, with three counts of sexual assault and one count of criminal harassment. 

The charges relate to alleged incidents in 2013 and 2014 reported to police by an adult woman. Police are concerned there may be more alleged victims.

He was charged on Oct. 1 and released on a promise to appear in court.
