Ottawa Police issue tickets for excessive noise, alcohol following Panda Game

By CityNews Staff

As the Panda Game kicked off on Saturday, Oct. 1, Ottawa Police are wasting no time issuing tickets.

Police said in a Twitter post, they have already issued over 20 provincial offence notices for open alcohol. Ottawa By-Law has issued a $1,000 ticket for excessive noise on Chapel Street.

Police said, there will be increased enforcement downtown in anticipation of Panda Game celebrations, and officers will focus on Criminal Code, Liquor Licence and Control Act offences, and other general conduct issues.

Last year, multiple criminal charges were laid after disruptive post-Panda Game parties resulted in incidents of criminal activity, including the destruction of property and assault.

Police and by-law officers have spoken directly to residents and businesses in the Sandy Hill and ByWard Market area, assuring residents that they hear their concerns about the post-Panda Game activities that negatively affected them in 2021.
