Police lay charges in Banff Avenue homicide

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has laid charges in connection to the shooting death of a 24-year-old earlier this week in Ottawa's south end. 
 
Police were called to the 2000 block of Banff Avenue in the Ellwood area at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5 in an incident involving injuries.  
 
As a result of an OPS investigation, 23-year-old Chawn Lemieux of Ottawa has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Abdulhamid Haji Ragab. 
 
Lemieux appeared in court on July 8 and was remanded in custody.
