RCMP senior intelligence officer arrested in Ottawa

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is confirming charges laid against one of its senior intelligence officers under the Security of Information Act and the Criminal Code.

The charges are connected activities alleged to have happened while the accused was an employee with the RCMP. 

Cameron Ortis was charged under:

Section 14(1) of the Security of Information Act
Section 22(1)(b) of the Security of Information Act
Section 22(1)(e) of the Security of Information Act
Section 122 of the Criminal Code
Section 342.1(1) of the Criminal Code

He is expected to appear at Ottawa's Elgin Street courthouse, Friday.

The RCMP is not expected to make any other comment on the case, as the investigation is ongoing.
