UPDATE: Ottawa woman identified as deceased in three-vehicle North Glengarry snow storm crash

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is identifying a woman killed in a three vehicle crash on Highway 417 in North Glengarry.

Marie Carmelle Desulme, 49, of Ottawa, was the passenger in a vehicle which collided with two tractor trailers in the eastbound lanes of the highway, between Highland Road and County Road 23, just after 5 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022. Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the crash started when an eastbound commercial vehicle collided with the passenger vehicle, but they are unsure exactly why this happened. The capital region was in the midst of a record-breaking snow storm that morning.

The driver and a second passenger of the vehicle in which Desulme died were taken to hospital following the incident

The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.

SD&G OPP continue to investigate with the assistance of OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI).

This incident was one of two fatal crashes on Highway 417 on Monday.
