Civil servants looking at off-limits websites while at work

Confidential reports made public today are showing some shocking statistics on the internet habits of some Ontario civil servants.
They show some public employees are visiting illegal or illicit websites, collectively adding up to tens of thousands of times each month. The questionable websites range in content from pornography to drugs, racism and even extremism.
Adult sites make up about 20 per cent of all the blocked websites that employees try to access.
Civil servants aren’t only trying to view bad web content. In a one-month period there were also as many as 145 million hits to sites that focused on sports, entertainment, travel, shopping, and games.
It also appears many of these public workers don’t want to get get caught. There were 40,000 attempts to get around the province’s computer security system.
The Toronto Star obtained the documents under the Freedom of Information Act.
