Many Canadians are still drinking and driving: CAA poll

Nearly one quarter of Canadians have gotten behind the wheel in the 2010 despite believing they were above or near the legal limit for impaired driving.

Jeff Walker the CAA’s Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer said nearly one in four Canadians admitted that in 2010 they drove when their blood alcohol level was above or close to the legal limit.

“National random sample of 2000, which is essentially a pretty big national sample and marked there is 2.2, 19 times out of 20” said Jeff.

28 per cent of the people surveyed said they drove after having one drink and 12 per cent said that they got behind the wheel after having one or two drinks.

The CAA said people know that they should’ve drink and drive but an alarming number of them still do.
