Seven people pulled from B.C. avalanche

FERNIE, B.C. – An avalanche has swept away seven skiiers at the Fernie Alpine Resort.
It happened within the boundaries of the ski resort at about 12:30 p.m., while the skiers were on an expert ski run.
Amazingly, nobody was seriously injured in the snow slide.
“They were not buried, but were certainly in the slide’s path with one young male suffering a minor leg injury,” RCMP Corporal Dan Moskaluk told our Vancouver station, News1130.
Resort manager Andy Cohen says the avalanche was triggered by skiers and was reported to be about 30 metres wide and one metre deep.
Everyone else on the hill has been accounted for and is now at the ski base.
The Canadian Avalanche Centre has rated the avalanche danger in that area as high.
