Slick roads cause numerous collisions

Speed and snow are being blamed for the surge in vehicle collisions, according to the Ottawa Police.
A spokesperson for the police says they responded to 120 accidents between noon on Saturday to 5:00 a.m on Sunday.
The collisions ranged from minor to more serious.
At about 12:00 a.m., paramedics rushed to the scene of a five vehicle collision on the Airport Parkway, just south of Brookfield. The crash, involving a limousine, minivan and three other vehicles sent four people to hospital in serious condition.
The 45-year-old man driving the limousine sustained lower leg injuries. Paramedics treated the man who then refused transport to hospital.
Travelling in the minivan, a 42-year-old man was treated for his trauma related chest pain. A 54-year-old man was stabilized on the scene for chest and neck injuries. A 23-year-old woman was also treated for a lower leg injury. All three remain in serious condition.
Travelling in the Honda Civic, a 48-year-old woman sustained serious back and neck injuries and remains in serious condition. The other occupant, a 56-year-old man was assessed and treated for his headache.
A 26-year-old man travelling in a Toyota Prius was uninjured. Three female occupants of a Honda Element that spun off the road and hit a sign were uninjured.
Earlier in the night, at about 10:30 p.m., a pickup truck and a GMC Yukon collided just north of Stone School Road. The lone occupant of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old girl, sustained serious head injuries and was stabilized at the scene before being taken to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. She was listed in serious condition.
Travelling in the Yukon, a 42-year-old man was treated for pelvis, hip and leg injuries before being taken to The Ottawa Hospital Civic campus trauma unit. A 34-year-old woman suffered chest injuries and was also transported to the trauma unit. Both were listed in serious condition.
Ottawa Police are reminding drivers to slow down and drive according to road conditions.
