CN Rail strike averted

CN and the Canadian Auto Workers Union reached a tentative agreement that covered nearly four thousand workers, mere hours before a walkout had been scheduled to begin.
The agreement covered shopcraft, office, clerical and mechanical workers, as well as five-hundred and seventy-five owner-operator truck drivers for CN subsidiary CNTL.
Details of the pact will be released once it is ratified. The ratification process will begin next week.
The CAW’s focus has now turned to Canadian Pacific, where there is potential for a strike by 2,100 workers who inspect and repair railcars and locomotives.
