Groups agree to split disputed $50-million Lotto Max jackpot

The winners of a $50-million Lotto Max jackpot are finally cashing in — more than a month after the draw.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. says two groups fighting over a $50-million jackpot have agreed to split the prize.
The lottery corporation will pay out $31.7 million today to a group of 19 Bell employees. They are the original winners who validated their New Year’s Eve ticket back in January.
Each of them will pocket around $1.6 million.
Even though the two sides have agreed among themselves to split the money, the additional 11 claimants — who came forward after the prize was initially claimed — will have to wait for a court to decide if they’re entitled to any cash.
The court will distribute the remaining $18.3 million accordingly.
The $50-million prize is Ontario’s largest lottery payout ever.
