McNeely, Macdonald to run in fall election

Two more candidates were confirmed in the Ottawa area for the fall provincial election.
Veteran Ottawa politician Phil McNeely will not join a throng of Liberal MPPs heading for the exit ahead of October’s provincial election.
McNeely was considering stepping aside in the riding of Ottawa-Orleans, but he tells the Citizen he’s changed his mind.
He says he wants to carry the party flag to support the progress he says the Liberals have been making on the environment, education and health.
He now says he is 99.99 percent sure he will run.
In Ottawa South the Tories selected Carleton university’s director of communications Jason Macdonald to run against Premier Dalton McGuinty.
Macdonald faces a tough fight as McGuinty has held the riding for the Liberals since 1990 and won 50 per cent of the vote in the last election in 2007.
