FIFA confirms Canada hosting women’s world soccer tournament

ZURICH, Switzerland – FIFA has confirmed Canada as host of the 2015 Women’s World Cup.
The announcement was made at FIFA House by FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
The tournament is expected to be held in numerous cities across the country including Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal and Moncton.
Canada had been up against Zimbabwe for the 24-country tournament. But the Africans pulled out earlier this week.
Canada was runner-up to Germany to host this summer’s tournament.
Canada will also host the FIFA Women’s U-20 tournament in 2014, which will serve as a test event.
