Next weekend we spring ahead, moving the clocks ahead to Daylight Savings Time which means you’ll loose an hour’s sleep.
That’s why health care professionals have dubbed this sleep awareness week – to highlight the national problem of getting enough sleep.
Most adults need from seven to nine hours of sleep; but researchers at the National Sleep Foundation say most people aren’t getting it.
Experts suggest if you are having trouble falling asleep, switch off the TV, the computer and cell phone an hour before going to bed to help you wind down.
Nine in 10 people say they are using electronics the hour before turning out the lights.
Artificial light emitted by TV and computer screens and over-stimulation of the brain have been blamed.
The National Sleep Foundation finds the worst activities are video games, using cell phones and surfing the internet.
