Police budget approved

The Ottawa Police Services Board has approved Ottawa police’s draft budget.

Ottawa police had to make just over six million dollars in cuts in order to come in at Mayor Jim Watson’s 2.5 percent tax increase.

The Ottawa Sun says police will cut back in media monitoring, the summer student program, fuel consumption and special projects for criminal investigations.

The draft budget will add about $12 to the average urban home’s tax bill.
