VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Canucks confirmed today forward Manny Malhotra had a surgical procedure after suffering an eye injury in the second period of last night’s victory over Colorado. Malhotra left the game in the second period when he was struck above the left eye by a puck.
Canucks Coach Alain Vigneault could not say how long they will be without Malhotra, and are waiting to see what a specialist has to say this afternoon. Vigneault also said it was too early to speculate about any possible long-term vision problems for Malhotra who is one of the team’s top faceoff men. The 30-year-old has 11 goals and 30 points in 72 games this season. The team has called up Victor Oreskovich from the Manitoba Moose.
