Canucks bandwagon getting crowded

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s getting a little crowded on the bandwagon as the Canucks are getting ready for the first round of the playoffs. And there is one person who thinks this could be the year to bring home Lord Stanley’s mug.
“Dr. Sport” Greg Douglas thinks the Sedin twins were burnt out last year and that’s why the team failed against the Chicago Blackhawks.
They haven’t been completely unscathed this year. The club has endured tons of injuries, especially on the blue line, and recent four-game suspension to forward Raffi Torres.
Despite all that that, he thinks the team was built for the long haul thanks to strong net minding, dynamic defence and scoring depth. “I always look up to a person like Punch Mclean. Punch is a brilliant hockey mind. I sat with him the other night and he gave them his nod of approval. He says this is the year.”
Douglas explains the real key is the scoring ability the Canucks have to handle any injuries, like the one to Manny Malhotra. “Mike Gillis and his management staff have done a terrific job preparing for things like this, to have the depth upfront. He [Malhotra] is going to be missed, there’s no question about it.”
Luckily the Canucks have a strong back-up in Cory Schneider, should the club have to pull Roberto Luongo.
Douglas is hoping the 40-year curse has been lifted, however, he’s warning fans to take it one round at a time, and not to plan any parade, yet.
By the way, bookies in Las Vegas are pegging the Canucks to win the Cup at 3-1.
